"THE PLAN"
COMPLETE THE VESSEL IN THREE YEARS
VALUES AND COSTS
NOTE: THE "PHASE ONE" FUNDING CAN BE SECURED BY THE EQUITY IN MY PROPERTY
THE PLAN is to raise 150 K for PHASE ONE by finding a partner ('s) or investor ('s)
After completion of phase one, the catamaran will be launched, unless funding for Phase Two has been secured. As soon as the vessel is "ready to float" It should be easier to attract further funding. The back up plan, for phase two financing, is to use the vessel for short duration fishing charter trips and possibly for transportation of supplies to nearby oil platforms.
PHASE TWO will see the mast and rigging mounted, sails purchased, basic electronics installed and some "shake down" trips in the Gulf of Mexico.
PHASE THREE now we can sail, enjoy and complete the interior details at leisure!
ESTIMATED VALUES:
"AS IS" : | YOU DECIDE! | ?? |
PHASE ONE | WHEN FLOATING with electrical propulsion systems and basic living quarters |
$ 600.000 |
PHASE TWO: | WITH SAILS, rigging and basic electronics |
$ 1,000.000 |
COMPLETED | INTERIOR, nicely finished, ready for charter guests, AT LEAST | $ 2,500.000 |
Total needed to completion ~~ $ 270.000
Sounds like a reasonable investment to me!
FYI A somewhat smaller catamaran, also not yet completed, is listed at $1,800,000 (one million eight hundred thousand)
As always, money will be the best way to speed up completion of the project. We have built at least ONE of virtually every component needed for completion and will be able to compile a close estimate of cost and time in the near future. Up 'til now, this seemed not very important as I simply carried on with my own resources and on my own time, enjoying the "JUST DO IT" approach.
However, completion within a reasonable time can only be guaranteed with some outside help. THIS IS WHERE YOU CAN COME IN !
COSTS
(these numbers are clearly estimates, HOWEVER, based on years of building experience)
Estimates of the costs and time for the next steps:
1. Complete the structure capable of "floating" : $80 K / one year.
This would then represent real value, even without mast / sails or auxiliary propulsion.
2. Install solar panels, batteries, electric props $ 40 K / six months.
Install basic living necessities: water maker, showers, freezer/ice box combination, etc. $ 20 K / six months
Now we have a vessel that can produce some income if needed and will be my home,
your fishing or diving platform, capable of accommodating a few of us at sea for a few days!
AT THIS POINT THE VALUE WILL BE A MINIMUM OF $600.000
3. Build the mast. (airfoil shaped and rotating). Cost will depend on material prices $20 - $40 K / six months
Note: I have plenty of experience building similar structures.
4. Purchase sails and some hardware, fabricate rigging in house $35 - $50 K / four months
5. Purchase and install basic electronics $5 - $20 K / one month
AT THIS JUNCTURE WE WILL HAVE AN OCEAN GOING CATAMARAN, VALUED AT A MINIMUM OF $1,000,000
6. Now we have boat that can be used to sail to the Caribbean Islands and hide from Hurricanes in the South Atlantic
7. Complete the interior amenities and "Niceties". This can be done on board, keeping busy as one chooses.
Based on the experience of my friend Wolfgang, who built TABOO III over there, I will take all materials,
parts and tools needed, with me.
After a year of easy work, fun and recreation! the value of the vessel should be $2,500,000 -$3,000,000
HELP TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN AND SAIL WITH US
Note: Some real costs, like launching have not been addressed here. We will talk to "B....wiser "or " M...light" to provide the helicopter to launch the 'CAT" and see their name on National TV. Maybe the "JUST DO IT" folks will just "DO IT"
